Planetshakers – Majesty (Live)

Somewhere in the far reaches of the cosmos, the spirit of Frank Zappa just…spewed. Perhaps this was exactly what he was warning us all about with such releases as ‘Broadway The Hard Way’.

While searching for something completely different, I happened to stumble across this clip of the Christian music group Planetshakers performing “Majesty” (Live), presumably at one of the Planetshakers conventions (yes, a Christian youth movement whose stated mission is to “empower a generation to win a generation”).

The flashiness and MTV quality of this video really makes me think of a line of verse I read once: “Does the Christian use the Devil’s device to obtain freedom?”

Yuck, thanks for nothing urban, 6 minutes of my life. I am gonna watch Ian again. What would John Lofton think?

    Jesus suffering fuck, that’s depressing.

Jesus! That’s a lot of light bulbs!
I got to a minute and thirty seconds and I had to bail.
    Praise the lord!

Makes a convincing case for being a (insert your choice of non-christian religious nonsense). Except they’re all rubbish IMO (no H!). Up the Humans! And I don’t care how slick this is- all the lighting and effects in the world couldn’t stop this turd from stinking.

actually i find this quite terrifying.
so many people going crazy for some musicians that play ‘up with people’ music
it’s too demagogic (is that a word?) for me

(but then again bishop williamson might say it didn’t happen)

there’s a quote from the Catherine Tate show, the sketches with Chav-girl Lauren (“I’m not bovvered”), and her boyfriend Ryan always says this, in a way that only the British can:

    “That is WELL bad.”

i actually used to be heavily involved with Catholic Youth Group @ my church before my brains grew. It was *just* like this.

A group of Christians doing no harm to anyone else is “terrifying” is it?

Yet you applaud the demented ravings of a drug taking degenerate such as Tommy Chong who tries to hide his degeneracy behind the a figleaf of political conspiracy.

To that end he has recruited that ultra-paranoid and anti-semite Alex Jones who makes a living pandering to the lunatic fringe in the twilight zone where far left meets far right.

Both these characters slipped moorings with reality long ago. If you cannot see that their rationality-free ravings have the religious aspect of all secular fanatacism, whether marxist-leninist or environmentalist, then God help you.

“A group of Christians doing no harm?”

Exactly where has your attention been at for the past 30 plus years and the rise of Christian Right Wing Political Activism? The Moral Majority? Ronald Reagan? Jerry Falwell? Bush #1? Pat Robertson? Bush #2?

“Applaud the demented ravings of a drug taking degenerate such as Tommy Chong who tries to hide his degeneracy…”

Tommy Chong a degenerate? For what? Being a comedian? A free thinker? Anti-authoritarian? Making Bongs?

I’m surprised, Fred, that you haven’t included Frank Zappa in your list of degenerates…ultra paranoids…anti-semites…lunatics (he’s been accused of the very same things).

what do yo mean 30 plus years??? 2009 years would be more accurate. Remember the crusades, witch burnings, not condemning the nazis, …. just to name a few minor things
